Weekend in Pittsburgh Recap: Part 3

Hi guys! I can’t believe it’s already Thursday. This week sped by!

Before I recap the last part of my weekend in Pittsburgh for you all, I just wanted to let you know that I started another part-time internship at The Lipedema Project! This organization’s goal is to spread awareness and education about lipedema, provide support for those with lipedema, and to help people manage and treat the disease. I am acting as social media intern, in charge of the Twitter and Pinterest accounts, but will also be helping out with other projects that they need a hand with.

OK, on to the rest of my weekend in Pittsburgh!

Saturday night

After walking around downtown, we took a bus to The Church Brew Works for dinner (and more drinks of course!)

It really did feel like we were eating inside a Church (since I guess technically we were….it had just been transformed into a restaurant/brewpub!)

We started with their taster flight + 1 beer that we particularly wanted to try.

These beers were a bit disappointing, so we didn’t drink them all. Even though the samples were 4 ounces, it just wasn’t worth finishing most of them.

Luckily, the food was great! I ordered the veggie spaghetti, which was zucchini noodles topped with a beet marinara sauce and lentil and mushroom “meatballs.” I wasn’t expecting it to be fantastic, but it was!

Still that was not enough food, so it being vacation and all, I ordered more fries. This time, it was of the sweet potato variation, my favorite.

After dinner, we took a bus to our last stop of the day, Sharp Edge Beer Emporium, the top-rated beer bar in the Pittsburgh area.

We ordered one last flight to split and enjoyed it while sitting at the bar for an hour or two.

We got home just before midnight and I fell asleep very quickly. It was a super fun but long day!

Sunday morning, we slept in a bit to catch up on some much-needed sleep. We then got ready for the day, packed up, and headed out to go to brunch at Eden. Eden is a vegan restaurant that serves a vegetarian brunch so of course, I was super excited to try it.

We sat outside and started with some French Press coffee (plus lots of water!)

Then I ordered the veggie scramble with tofu eggs, seitan, veggies, cashew cheese, and avocado. Plus a side of fruit (and some toast which was not very good.)

This scramble was SOOOO good. Plus it felt great to start the day with lots of fruit and veggies, since Saturday was obviously not the healthiest eating/drinking day.

We then walked around the area for a while. There were lots of people out and many cute shops! It was a great way to end our time in Pittsburgh.

Unfortunately, before noon we had to head to the bus stop to catch a bus to the airport for our 3pm flight. We finally arrived back in Boston around 10pm and I was glad to sleep in my own bed, but it was a great weekend!

We can’t wait to return to Pittsburgh in the future!
